Jane was born in 1963 in Wilmington, Delaware, during the baby scoop era.
Placed for adoption after 10 months in foster care. Adopted by Frank and Elma Spreckley from Bucks county Pa. who had been unable to have children. But 18 months after Jane was adopted, her parents had her brother Gary.
Jane’s life was pretty normal until middle school, when she began to struggle with school and being bullied. That greatly affected her ability in making friends and she wondered why she wasn’t able to fit in.
At the end of 1977 her parents got divorced, which brought on more abandonment issues. She went to therapy and was able to work out a lot of those feelings but because adoption was never brought into the sessions, some of those major issues had not been dealt with.
Jane has found all of her biological family on both sides. Although learning early in the search that her birth mother had passed away 20 years before finding them. She has 6, 1/2 siblings on her maternal side and 3 on her paternal side. She was also able to find her birth father, who wasn’t aware of her.But has been one of the best things to happen. Everyone has been very welcoming and open to having relationships!
Finding her biological family has brought so many answers and has very much helped with finding herself.
